Arvind Agrawal | CEO Atherstone Investor Communication Limited

Mr Arvind Agarwal, the founder of AICL, won the "Promising Business Communicator" award organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI). Arvind has worked for over 7 years in the field of investor communications and is presently one of India's foremost practitioners of stakeholder-centric communication and having worked with over a hundred client companies to help them communicate their business objectives.

He is a Graduate in Commerce, a Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary. He worked first as a journalist with one of India's oldest English Dailies, and then as a CFO with a steel fabrication company before venturing into this field. He shaped the investor communication products for many leading companies in India, including LIC Housing Finance, Big Pictures, Axis Bank, Gitanjali Gems, Shriram Transport, Jai Corp Limited, UTV among others.

An IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre, Mr.Shrivastava has successfully changed the fate of Madhyam, a state owned advertising agency. The entire advertising campaign to re-establish the image of Madhya Pradesh to the global community was successfully done by Madhyam under the stewardship of Mr.Shrivastava. He changed Madhyam as a profit centre by redesigning various revenue models. At this time Madhyam is the only state owned advertising agency that runs creates a surplus amount.

Communicator of the Decade Award
P.R. Joshi | President Corporate HR & Communications, Zydus Cadila Limited

P.R. Joshi, President, Corp. HR & Comm., Zydus Cadila Ltd, Ahmedabad received the Communicator of the Decade award organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI). He holds a masters degree in English literature from Gujarat University and has a post graduate diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from M.S University, Vadodara.

Under Mr. Joshi's leadership, HR has emerged as a strategic partner contributing to Zydus' astounding growth for over a decade. From a turnover of Rs. 200 crore in 1995, the group posted a turnover of over Rs. 1800 crores in 2006-07. It has also successfully globalised its operations and emerged as a global healthcare provider.

Mr Senthil Chengalvarayan, President & Editorial Director, CNBC TV18 received the "Excellence in Business Journalism" award organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI). Prior to this role, he led a team of professional journalists that has made CNBC TV18 the most successful business media network in the country.

He has been a business journalist for over two decades. After spending his initial years in the profession with various Business Dailies he joined Television Eighteen in 1994 just as the company was pioneering the entry of private companies into Television News. He's seen the industry grow then from uncertain beginnings to the phenomenon that it is today.

Strategic Business Communicators Award
Rajendra Darda | Editor-in-Charge, Lokmat & Hon'ble Industry Minister, Maharashtra

Rajendra Darda, Hon`ble Industries Minister, Govt. of Maharashtra was awarded the Excellence in Business Communication for Non-Business Communication Professionals organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI).

After graduating from Nagpur University, Rajendra Darda received his diploma from the Government Institute of Printing Technology, Mumbai. He also attended a two-year advanced course in Graphic Arts from the London College of Printing. Darda is Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of the Lokmat newspaper group.

Excellence in Marketing & Brand Communications Award
Union Bank of India

The Award for the Excellence in Marketing & Brand Communications was awarded to the Union Bank of India for their outstanding campaign in repositioning their Brand Image.

Union Bank of India was established on 11th November 1919 with its headquarters in the city of Bombay now known as Mumbai. The Head Office building of the Bank in Mumbai was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the nation in the year 1921, and he said on the occasion: "We should have the ability to carry on a big bank, to manage efficiently crores of rupees in the course of our national activities. Though we have not many banks amongst us, it does not follow that we are not capable of efficiently managing crores and tens of crores of rupees." His prescient words anticipated the growth of the bank that has taken place in the decades that followed. The Bank now operates through over 2800 branches across the country. The Bank's core values of prudent management without ignoring opportunities is reflected in the fact that the Bank has shown uninterrupted profit during all 90 years of its operations. The Bank has a large clientele base of over 24 million. On the technology front the Bank has taken early initiatives and 100% of its branches are computerised. The Bank has also introduced Core Banking Solution with connectivity between branches. 100% of the business of the Bank is under Core Banking Solution making it a leader among its peers in infusion of technology. Many innovative products are developed using the technology platform to offer an array of choices to customers, adding speed and convenience to transactions. Technology will also enable the Bank to derive substantial cost reduction while creating the requisite capacity to handle the ever increasing volume of business in a competitive environment that offers immense opportunities. The Bank achieved total business level of Rs.3,42,856 crore (Rupees Three Lakh Forty two thousand Eight hundred fifty six crore) Mr. S. C. Kalia, Executive Director, Union Bank of India accepted the Award on behalf of the Bank.

Life Time Achievement Award
M.V. Kamath | Editor Illustrated Weekly & Veteran Journalist

Madhav Vittal Kamath or more fondly known as M V Kamath is one of India's best known journalists and writers. A famous journalist by profession, M V Kamath was the former chairman of Prasar Bharati. He has authored nearly 40 books on different topics. In fact, he was awarded the honorary Padma Bhushan award in 2004.

He is currently the chairman of India's public service broadcaster, Prasar Bharati Corporation, which runs famous channels like Doordarshan and All India Radio. He is also on the board of Manipal Institute of Communication, the media school in Manipal.

Life Time Achievement Award
R.K. Laxman | Noted Cartoonist

Mr R. K. Laxman , the famous cartoonist received the "Lifetime Achievement award" organized by the Association of Business Communicators of India (ABCI). Laxman's earliest work was for newspapers and magazines such as Swarajya and Blitz. While still at the Maharaja College of Mysore, he began to illustrate his elder brother R K Narayan's stories in The Hindu, and he drew political cartoons for the local newspapers and for the Swatantra.

Among his other works, Laxman is known for his distinctive illustrations in several books, most notably for the Malgudi stories written by his elder brother R.K. Narayan, which was later made as a serial directed by Shankar Nag. He also created a popular mascot for the Asian Paints group called Gattu.
